Equinox and Albany Police Department Partner Together
Equinox hosts Police Academy Recruits as part of the Albany Police Department’s Community Liaison Partnership.
On July 12th Equinox and APD partnered together to offer an opportunity for recruits to learn more about the community and how to partner with organizations to better serve our community. During their visit, they discovered more about all of Equinox’s programs, with an emphasis on behavioral health, including our PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) program. PROS Recovery Advisor, Susan Friedman, spoke about the program and answered questions.
The highlight of the session was when Shirley, a PROS client, shared her story and mentored the recruits on how to best approach and work with people with mental health disorders and addictions, so it’s a less threatening or unfavorable experience for both the officers and the person with the disorder. It was such a positive afternoon with great “take-aways” for both APD and Equinox.
