Instructions for Equinox Thanksgiving Dinner Volunteers
Empire State Plaza

Due to COVID-19:

We have come up with a socially distanced plan to carry on our cherished tradition, and make sure we can still safely deliver delicious Thanksgiving meals to thousands of our neighbors in need. While we continue to provide for our community, Equinox would also like to give back to our local restaurants and businesses that have supported our dinner over the years by purchasing T-Day meals from them—this would replace our in-person preparations. Although our “redesigned dinner” changes our need for meal prep volunteers, we still need your valuable help more than ever to make this year’s dinner a reality.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are not feeling well, please do not volunteer!!

General Information:

  • The Health Department requires that all volunteers working in the kitchens must be 14 or older
  • Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that can get soiled.
  • If possible, bring a baseball cap to avoid wearing a hair net.
  • If possible, bring a clean, overhead apron, to avoid the use of plastic aprons.
  • There is no secure storage for personal belongings, such as purses. Please leave them at home or in the car.
  • Do not bring your cell phone to the site. You will be wearing sanitary gloves which must be replaced if you use your phone. We do not have enough gloves to give everyone two pair.
  • Go to Concourse level and locate Equinox registration table near McDonalds.
  • Be prepared to assist Equinox team as requested.

Parking and Confirmation:

  • Do not expect your confirmation until about a week before your assigned slot.
  • Free parking is available in “V” Visitor parking lot but you must show the approved parking permit we will send you by email with your confirmation on all days except Thanksgiving Day.
  • Additional parking is available on either side of the State Museum on Madison Ave.
  • It is possible that all individuals in the vehicle will need to show identification to State Police.

Additional Information for Thanksgiving Day:

  • Parking will be more challenging due to volume of volunteers.
  • Volunteers not “Delivering Meals” need to move ahead past the long driver line on the Concourse to the Equinox registration table.  Do not get in the Driver Line.
