Equinox distributes used cell phone to victims of domestic violence, which can be used to dial 911 even without regular cell-phone plans or service. Donated phones that can’t be used are recycled, with proceeds going directly to our program.

Gift In Kind Donations
Gift In Kind donations (goods or services rather than cash) may be gently used, when appropriate, while others are new. Because space and staffing is limited, all Gift In Kind donations are coordinated in advance with the Development & Community Relations Department by calling (518) 434-6135, ext 348. We may refer some donations to other agencies in the community who have a greater need for these donations.
Consider holding a “drive” for Equinox. Schools, church groups, friends and businesses hold “drives” to support specific programs within the agency or meet specific needs. Some examples would be to collect full-sized personal care items, twin sheet sets, blankets, school supplies, sporting equipment, art & music supplies, non-perishable food or new toys and gifts for the holidays. We appreciate the support for our programs and clients through Gift In Kind donations.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts can be made with cash, real estate, stocks, bonds, personal property, or life insurance. Gifts may provide additional income for you and your heirs, help reduce income and estate taxes, and relieve you or your heirs of complicated financial management responsibilities, all while helping you fulfill your charitable objectives. Examples of gifts are described below.
Bequests by Will
A bequest may take the form of a specific dollar amount, a specific item or piece of property, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after you have made gifts to others. There may be income and estate tax benefits to your marking a bequest to Equinox.
Gift Annuity
An annuity is an agreement between you and Equinox. It is an irrevocable gift that provides to you a fixed dollar amount during your life. The amount both you and Equinox receive us determined by the size if your gift and the amount you choose to receive during your lifetime. Your income is guaranteed, regardless of changed in the market.
Charitable Remainder Trust
This trust transfers ownership and management of cash or appreciated security to Equinox. Equinox manages the trust and pays income to you for a predetermined amount of time.
Charitable Lead Trust
This trust works like the charitable remainder trust but in reverse. The trust would pay Equinox a monthly amount—either fixed or variable—for the term of the trust. Upon the expiration of the term, the assets are given to the person stated in the trust, the beneficiary you have designated.
IRA
You may name Equinox as the beneficiary of your IRA. There may be estate tax benefits to naming Equinox as the beneficiary of an IRA.
Life Insurance
You may name Equinox as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy. This allows you, the donor, to claim a tax deduction for the charitable gift, depending on whether the policy is paid in full or premiums are still owing.
